Connect the ball
Connect the ball to your computer with a USB data cable. Open this page in Chrome or Edge.
Install the firmware
Click the installer, select the ball’s port and confirm the installation. Keep the cable connected until it finishes.
Open the Web App
Connect to MAGIC8-SETUP, password magic8ball. Open 192.168.4.1 to customize your ball.

FIRST INSTALLATIONv—
Welcome to your Magic 8.
Connect the ball and close Arduino IDE or any serial monitor before continuing.
Loading the installer…
This first installation erases any existing data and settings on the board. If your ball is already set up, use the wireless update below.

ALREADY SET UP?
From here, it’s wireless.
Download the update file, open your ball’s Web App, then go to Update. Choose the file and keep the ball powered on. Your saved settings are kept.
You can also update through MAGIC8-SETUP. On your home Wi-Fi, find your ball at magic8.local.
A LITTLE HELP
Before you shake.
My ball doesn’t appear in the port list.
Check your USB cable: some only support charging. Close any serial monitor or other tabs using the board. If it is still not detected, hold BOOT, press and release RESET, then release BOOT before trying the installer again.
The screen stays black after the first installation.
This board may need a manual restart after the first USB installation. Press RESET once after installation finishes. If the battery is connected, unplugging USB alone does not fully power it off. Future updates will be wireless from the ball’s Web App.
Can I install from my phone?
Use a computer for the first USB installation. After that, use your phone to open the Web App, customize settings and install wireless updates.
Does the ball need Internet access?
The games, local customization and timer work without Internet access. Connect the ball to your home Wi-Fi in its settings if you want Internet time and outdoor weather.
